The Resurrection Lutheran Church tradition of giving Thanksgiving boxes out to families in need began about 8 or 9 years ago.  Originally it was just a small group of people going out to purchase the food with money from the church and putting baskets together.  In the years that followed we have really come a long way.
This year the Board of Outreach Ministry along with the Senior Youth Group collected food and money over the last 6 weeks.  With your generous gifts they were able to make boxes for 9 families.  These families are either members of our church or school families or referred by an active church member or by the school staff . These families have been provided with enough food for a full Thanksgiving meal and also food to get them through several more meals. What a great feeling to know that we have the means to provide for more than just the holiday meal.
Please keep these families in your Thanksgiving prayers.  May they be nourished by the food they will receive and nourished spiritually by God’s love that is put into each of these boxes.
