As a preschool and childhood development center, we focus on the whole child by supporting social-emotional development, faith, academics, health and nutrition and strong family partnerships. Through the STREAMin3 curriculum, hands-on exploration and intentional guidance from experienced teachers, children are encouraged to discover, create and develop the skills they need for their next stage of learning.

Learning Through STREAMin3 Exploration

Young children are naturally curious. They want to understand how things work, ask questions and discover new possibilities. Our Pre-K 3 program uses the STREAMin3 curriculum to encourage curiosity through hands-on, meaningful learning experiences.

STREAMin3 combines engaging activities that support early learning in areas such as science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and math. Through exploration and guided discovery, children begin developing important skills like problem-solving, communication, creativity and critical thinking.

Learning experiences in our Pre-K 3 program may include:

  • Investigating how things work
  • Building and creating with different materials
  • Exploring early math concepts
  • Developing early literacy skills through reading and storytelling
  • Creating art and expressing ideas creatively
  • Asking questions and making observations
  • Working together to solve problems

A typical STREAMin3 experience begins with a provocation activity that sparks curiosity and encourages children to investigate. Teachers guide students through the learning process while allowing them to explore, experiment and discover answers on their own.

In addition to STREAMin3 learning, children participate in faith-based experiences throughout the week, including prayer before meals, weekly chapel and age-appropriate Bible stories. Religious activities are part of the school’s welcoming environment and are not part of academic assessments.

Supporting Your Child’s Intellectual Growth

To support each child’s growth and ensure they are developing important readiness skills, Resurrection Lutheran School also provides formative VKRP and VALLS assessments for three- and four-year-old students. These assessments help teachers better understand each child’s progress, identify areas of strength and provide individualized support when needed. The goal is to ensure every child receives the guidance and encouragement they need to continue growing with confidence.

A Day in Our Pre-K 3 Program Classroom

A balanced day in our Pre-K 3 program includes opportunities for learning, creativity, movement, social connection and rest. Our Pre-K 3 schedule provides a predictable routine while allowing flexibility for children’s interests and developmental needs.

A typical day may include:

  • Provocation Activity: Children begin their day with an engaging activity designed to spark curiosity and introduce new ideas. These experiences encourage children to ask questions, explore materials and begin thinking creatively.

  • Circle Time and Morning Meeting: Teachers gather students together for conversation, songs, stories and classroom discussions. Children practice listening, communication and social skills while building a sense of community.

  • Choice Time: Children have opportunities to explore classroom centers and choose activities that interest them. Choice time encourages independence, creativity and problem-solving.

  • Group Learning and STREAMin3 Activities: Students participate in teacher-guided learning experiences that introduce early academic concepts through hands-on exploration.

  • Storytime and Literacy Activities: Reading and language development are woven throughout the day to encourage vocabulary growth, imagination and a love of books.

  • Meals, Snacks and Rest Time: Children enjoy nutritious meals and snacks while practicing independence and positive mealtime habits. A scheduled rest period gives children time to recharge after an active morning.

  • Indoor Play: Our preschoolers enjoy a spacious, open play room with plenty of space for activities.

  • Outdoor Play: Students participate in daily outdoor activities that encourage physical development, teamwork and exploration.

Outdoor Playtime And Safe Exploration

At Resurrection Lutheran School, we believe children learn through exploration, movement and hands-on experiences. Outdoor play is an important part of our Pre-K 3 program, giving children opportunities to develop physical skills, creativity, confidence and social connections.

Children in our Pre-K 3 program enjoy at least one hour of outdoor time each day, weather permitting, in a secure and thoughtfully designed outdoor environment. Our campus provides plenty of space for children to run, climb, explore and play safely.

Our outdoor features include:

  • A large, fenced playground designed with children’s safety in mind
  • State-of-the-art playground equipment
  • Multiple shade structures
  • A covered pavilion that serves as an outdoor classroom space
  • Soft, in-place rubber surfacing for added safety
  • A secure play area away from public roads
  • Dedicated outdoor spaces designed for younger children

In addition to outdoor play, our three- and four-year-old preschool students have access to an indoor playroom designed for active movement, imaginative play and exploration. This space gives children additional opportunities to stay engaged and active throughout the day, regardless of weather conditions.

Safety is always a priority. Teachers actively supervise children during all play experiences while encouraging independence, cooperation and age-appropriate risk-taking that helps children build confidence.
